Bartender of Tomorrow (BOT)

What's New?

Solenoids - January 29, 2004 -

I found a solenoid valve that will work. Click here to see it. The valve has a 1/2" and a 3/4" connectors. Now I will see if they will work. They have potential because:

  • They are cheap ($4.50 a piece)
  • They connect tubes the size of a garden hose, and we always need liquor pouring out that fast.

Phase 1

Have you ever wanted a drink but were to tired, lazy or drunk to make it? Let B.O.T. come to the rescue! I need to make sure my Electrical Engineering doesn't go to waste, and since EE has honed my drinking skills, I'm in the process of designing this automatic bartending robot.

The idea started when my friend Scott Shenyo from work told me about his idea to make this B.O.T. with his electronic skill and ingenuity and my microprocessor and engineering skills the project goes ahead. I'm getting together with other engineers. Bob's now onboard since he's an Mechanical Engineer and a bartender, and has had some robotic classes which might come in handy. If you want to join this team, email me.

The B.O.T. will be controlled by the Motorola 68HC11. The HC11 will interface the input, which is a knob to select the drink, and a button to start making the drink, and the output which is an LCD screen to show the drink and also control the solenoids that let the drink ingredients out of their bottles and into the cup.

The consumer would have to fill the cup with ice and possibly stir it. The ingredients can be refilled without trouble.
